Re: Helvella sp.2 ?
Right Carlo!
Vasileios check the spores, they should be considerably longer that in the other collection (H. lacunosa).
We are studying this group, many things are still to be discovered. I never read publications from everywhere in the world dealing with Helvella under Cistus, there should be some surprises!
It's an awesome found! Please, if you can, make some abundant collections, with notes about the habitat (very important to note wheter the collections was under Cistus, or not). But please the collections have to be very localized, don't mix apothecia you're not reasonably sure to come from a single mycelium. It's better for me to examine 4 or 5 identical collections, than to have a mixed one I will not able to separate...!
Thanks!
H. semiobruta has a somewhat hollow stipe; try to cut some apothecia and we'll see. If not, things are more complicated... Work in progress !

Re: Helvella sp.2 ?
It seems the same habitat, and the same kind of ground, of the places in Puglia where Carlo kindly lead us... It was wonderful!

Re: Helvella sp.2 ?
Because they are nearby, I think it is lacunosa at different maturity .
The middle is the same as right?
The helvelulla is synonymous with semiobruta ?
Spores 18,6-21,4 x 12,0-13,8 μm, Q=1,4-1,7
The strange thing is that we found them in a location plot. Some point will be built a house .

Re: Helvella sp.2 ?
The spores are not so long as I expected, so all what we supposed above is become rather doubtful.Spores 18,6-21,4 x 12,0-13,8 μm, Q=1,4-1,7
The middle specimen should both be the same species as the others, or not. The macroscopical appearence is rather critical, and we have still not fully understood this cluster of species. That's why we need to examine collections that are not, with no doubt, mixed: we should learn what are the differences between the taxa.
Helvella helvellula and Helvella semiobruta are not synonyms.
The house that will be built, do have a tiny room for me...?

Re: Helvella sp.2 ?
Vasileios, from which one of the ascomata you have taken the sample for the microscopy? Are they really identical?

I'm confused and do not remember ......
I will get for instance for new consideration .
This time remember .
Is the middle species, the black .
Spores 20,8-22,2 x 12,6-13,8 μm, Q= 1,5-1,7

Re: Helvella semiobruta cf.
I am examining all the collections of H. semiobruta and allies.
This collection is very puzzling, the spores are rather shorter and the ectal excipulum is made up of a palisade of club-shaped, strongly pigmented hyphae, recalling H. atra more than H. semiobruta. The three apothecia are conspecific, but anatomically the layer under the palisade (made up by +-inflate cells) is thick from 0 to 150 µm
Before this collection I was confident to have well understood the differences between the similar taxa. Now I am much more confused . And another collection of Vasileios seems to be different again, both from this one and from the main cluster of material seen from Puglia.
Vasileios, by chance, is there the possibility to collect some others specimens from the same spot?
Or the house is built by now?

Re: Helvella semiobruta cf.
Fortunately have not built house there, this year however have not come out mushrooms many in Greece, in the particular point did not find no one Helvella.
I will try the next time to gather also these other collections than Helvella.
